Dear Colleagues

On behalf of RSSA and SORSA, Prof Leon Janse van Rensburg and Dr Fozy Peer, cordially invite you to attend the RSSA – SORSA 2019 SA Imaging congress.

This 6th joint initiative from RSSA and SORSA will be hosted from 16-18 August 2019 at the Century City Conference Centre (CCCC) in Cape Town. Century City is strategically located on the N1 highway, just a few minutes from Cape Town C Business District.

Century City is centrally located in relation to the greater Cape Town metropole, with easy access from the popular Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, and the Southern, Northern and West Coast suburbs. Its situation on the N1 also provides convenient access to the Cape Town International Airport, and the Cape Winelands. Cape Town’s largest shopping centre, Canal Walk, which has more than 400 shops and restaurants is within easy walking distance.

We assure you of an experience where you will be exposed to both a technically advanced and academically stimulating program.
Highlights of the programme include a Mammography and Biopsy workshop as Radiology main track. It will be presented jointly by the Radiological Society of South Africa (RSSA), Breast Imaging Society of Southern Africa (BISSA) and the Society of Breast Imaging (SBI), with world renowned international and local speakers.

There will also be a short Ethics course and tracts on Chest Imaging as well as Abdomen Imaging, presented by the Department of Medical Imaging, Stellenbosch University.

The Mammography track consists of didactic lectures and four hands-on workstation Screening Mammography workshops with 100 cases each. Six companies will each provide ten workstations. We will endeavour to allocate the workstation of your choice but please note that a maximum of 10 users can be allocated per vendor. The allocation of workstations will be on a first come basis. The mammography didactic lectures will be available in virtual conference format. Please refer to the registration page for this option.

Sessions devoted to scientific papers will include tracts on Radiation Protection – Advances and Challenges; Management; Education and training; and Advances in imaging & radiation therapy.

The free paper session for the 2019 RSSA Travel Award of R40 000.00 will take place during the course. There will also be a scientific and poster exhibition with prizes of R15,000.00, R10,000.00 and R5,000.00 respectively.

SORSA will award prizes for the best posters. There will be a sponsorship prize to the next ISRRT World Congress for the ‘best oral presentation’. Prizes apply to SORSA members only (Terms and conditions apply)

The organising committee of the RSSA-SORSA 2019 SA Imaging Congress have once again invited distinguished speakers to address this forum who will be sure to enhance the aims of both societies of improving healthcare and to promote radiation safety for patients, to execute related medical regulations, and to be dedicated to international exchange and cooperation. This meeting will afford delegates the opportunity to network and to learn and share experiences with each other. It will be the ideal opportunity to exchange ideas, learn about new advances, to make new acquaintances and strengthen friendships . CEUs will be awarded for attendance on a per session basis.

Leading commercial vendors will be present to support existing clientele and to promote their latest technology and equipment. Please do not miss this opportunity – be sure to diarise now!
We look forward to welcoming you to Cape Town in 2019.
